 World Languages Middle School Program 

World Language Options:

● Students must choose between Chinese and Spanish.

● Students with Korean nationality must take a Korean Class. In addition to Korean class, they must take one world language class, either Chinese or Spanish.

● Korean as a Second Language (KSL) is offered to students witho Korean nationality, or those with Korean nationality who are not yet proficient in Korea

● English language learners are highly recommended to take an English as an Additional Language (EAL) course in place of Chinese or Spanish until they demonstrate grade level achievement according to WIDA assessment standards.

 

_달튼 학생들은 중국어 혹은 스페인어 중 하나를 필수로 한다. 

_수업 전 레벨테스트를 통해서 반 배정을 받는다(Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced 레벨)

 

 

How to move up to the next language level in Middle School?

 

In Middle School, to move up to the next language level (i.e. Chinese beginner to Chinese Intermediate), a student needs to obtain a yearly course grade of, at minimum, Developing (DEV).

중학교에서 다음 단계로 올라가려면(초급-> 중급) 최소한 Developing 을 받아야한다. 

 

If a student ends the school year with a language course yearly grade of Beginning (BEG), the student can repeat the same language course or change to another language. This decision will be made at the student’s discretion.

초급 성적(BEG)으로 학년을 마치면 동일한 어학 코스를 반복하거나 다른 언어로 변경할 수 있다. 

 

CDS believes in promoting the natural progress of language levels as seen above. All indicators are equally important factors in determining what progression will provide students with the greatest learning opportunities and optimal future performance.

 

If students would like to change their World Language, they must complete this form to make a formal request. A final answer will be provided after MS Assistant Director and World Language Department Head consideration.
